The Player of the Season dinner was held at the Lion Quays on Sunday 22nd April, and it gave Wrexham Supporters Trust the opportunity to present the members Player of the Season award. In a tight vote the deserved winner was Neil Ashton.
Neil has shown a high level of consistency throughout the season, in what has been a fantastic season for both him and the rest of the team that has seen them accumulate a club record points tally for any one season.
Manager Andy Morrell presented the Dave Lovett Unsung Hero award, which this year has been combined with the Trust’s Extra Mile award now that the Trust is the Club owner.
The winner of this award was voted on by the Trust Board, who put together the nominations that included Kat Slater for her WAG’s night; Dyfan Jones for his design work; Richard Williams for his own ‘points’ sponsorship; Tom Blackwell for his fundraising and bucket collections; Terry Stott and his dog Ruby for this three peaks challenge; and everyone who picked up the gauntlet to climb up Snowdon in horrendous conditions to raise over £25,000.
The Trust Board thank you all for your efforts, but the winner of the award that the Board chose was the ‘Saturday Stall’ team who have stood out in all weathers come rain and shine. In doing so they have not only raised thousands of pounds for the Trust, but they have also promoted the name of the Trust amongst the people of Wrexham, who are not regular attendees at the Racecourse.
