Wrexham Supporters Trust appoint Chief Executive Officer
Appointment of Chief Executive Officer: Wrexham Supporters Trust achieved another significant milestone this week on the appointment of Richard Green as its new Chief Executive. At an unveiling to our local media, Richard was interviewed by Real Radio on Thursday and was front page news on both the Leader and Daily Post on Friday. You can read more about this exciting appoi ntment and Richards comments on our website.
Due Diligence: As reported on the Clubs official website today, the Trust spent Thursday and Friday this week progressing financial due diligence and now is in the process of preparing a forecast for next season, which will be critical in determining how much money is required to fund the club through to the end of the season. Legal due diligence is taking slightly longer than expected and will continue this week.
Local Politicians: We met with Ian Lucas MP and the new Health and Social Care Minister, Lesley Griffiths AM this week to update them both on our progress. The meeting was also an opportunity to personally introduce Ian and Lesley to our new Chief Executive and to help him to start building relationships with our local political representatives. Ian and Lesley were very impressed with Richard&rsq uo;s appointment and track record and continue to support the Trusts bid to acquire Wrexham FC, the Racecourse and Colliers Park.
Snowdon sponsored walk: The walk to the top of Wales has captured the imagination of supporters and press alike. 40 Wrexham fans have already signed up to the sponsored walk up Snowdon and many more are showing interest by the day. The prominent publicity that weve received in the Leader and Daily Post has certainly helped to raise awareness of this event, so once ag ain we would like to extend a big thank you to our local media.
WST Sales Team: It was another bumper day for the WST Sales Team who raised £380 from the sale of merchandise and signed up 12 new members. In just three weeks, the sales team has raised almost £1000 and signed up 21 new members, which just goes to show what can be achieved by simply giving supporters the opportunity to buy good quality merchandise and become members of Wrexhams largest fans organisation.
Membership: Following the success of WSTs Saturday Superstore membership of the Trust rose again this week to 1160. The findings of the Big Red Survey taught us that the majority of Wrexham fans who were not members because they hadnt been asked to join. Hopefully the WST stall will give supporters the opportunity to join up. Afterall in life, if you dont ask, you dont get so were going to keep on asking!
Yma o Hyd: Just a reminder that the WST version of Yma o Hyd (Still here) is available to view via You Tube (download). It's an inspiring view, both visually and audibly and we thoroughly recommend it to all members and fans alike. One for the 'favorites' list!
Supporters Direct News
Funding: Supporters may be aware that the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, administrators of the Premier League Fans' Fund, withdrew its financial support for Supporters Direct last week, citing some personal comments made by its Chief Executive Officer, Dave Boyle on his personal Twitter site following the promotion of AFC Wimbledon. Despite the uncertainty over their fut ure and livelihoods, the Supporters Direct team continues to provide almost daily support to the Trust, for which we are very grateful.
Facebook: As highlighted in our previous briefing, the SupportersDirects Fans Page on Facebook is available for viewing and is an extremely useful and informative read. We encourage our members to take a look at the site. To visit the page here and click like to access more articles, videos, photos and debates than ever before. This page also aims to be more interactive, so its an opportunity to share thoughts and experiences with members of other supporters trusts. In particular, there are regular updates about the Football Governance Inquiry and news from Supporters Trusts across England and Wales.
