Members' Briefing #18

Annual General Meeting

The Trust Annual General Meeting was very well attended at the Centenary Club on Wednesday 29 June. The usual reports and Board elections were completed, resulting in the formation of a new Board with election to eight posts. We hope to publish full profiles of the post holders.

The AGM also heard reports on progress in a number of key areas and some proposals about the way forward, should negotiations with the Club result in the transfer of ownership to the Trust. These reports included details of proposed governance arrangements establishing the relationships between the Trust strategic Board, the football club Board and the potential operation structure for the Club. The meeting also addressed the values and standards of leadership and management structures that would be adopted, progress with the Red Army and how that might be organised in the future. The Board also presented an introduction to the Escrow account and highlighted the significance of investment and donations in supporting the Trust bid for ownership of Wrexham Football Club.

Negotiation News - Public Announcements and Press Events

On Friday the directors of Wrexham Football Club, Wrexham Village and Crusaders released an update on current negotiations. The Trust has made representations to Mr Moss about clarification of the statement, rather than provide a detailed response.

The Trust is engaged in a sensitive a period of confidential negotiations with the owners of Wrexham Football Club, Wrexham Village and the Crusaders. These negotiations have a commonly understood timeframe. They are complex and relate to the Racecourse, Colliers Park and the football club representing a substantial business transaction.

As you would expect the Trust intends to honour the confidentiality of the process, operate in good faith and progress the negotiations in a professional, business like and discreet manner. We take this approach out of respect for the owners and the acquisition process and not least because this is what would be expected by the people of the town and local partners.

Everybody understands the background to these discussions and decisions that have been made in the past. The Trust must make clear that it has not made and cannot make decisions about the running of the club and it is not empowered to make any such decisions.

Wrexham Supporters Trust will continue to work professionally and constructively to achieve the objective that both parties wish to realise in these negotiations. We remain happy continue to discuss progress with the Club and work with the club as quickly as circumstances allow.

Open for Business œ Local Business Engagement

A number of local businesses already support the Trust, but recent developments have increased interest from the business community in understanding how business can become involved in achieving the objectives of the Trust. With this in mind, we have opened a new email address where businesses can declare their interest and receive the opportunity to discuss initiatives and sponsorship with the CEO or a member of the Board. This is a major step in ensuring that the Wrexham initiative is inclusive, with a very positive relationship amongst the business community.
