#Up4Stoke - Sales now closed. Featured

ourclubWFC#Up4Stoke

It has been a very busy 4 days, and we would like to start by thanking the staff and volunteers of Wrexham Football Club and Wrexham Supporters Trust, who have been working round the clock to make a success of our FA Cup 3rd round tie at Stoke City on Sunday 4th January.

The long-term sustainability of the Club and returning it to the Football League are foremost in our minds when we approach any decision.

We are a fan-owned Club, and the principle of fan-ownership is fundamental to us in this, our 150th anniversary season. Spreading co-ownership to more people helps secure our club for future generations.

This week we have increased Club membership by around a half - more than 1250 new and returning members, including 120 new Junior Dragons and 90 Youth Members. This is fantastic news.

We have now sold all available tickets for the Stoke City away game. We had 221 tickets available for sale on general release following the close of Phase 1 sales at 1pm today. We had a queue of around 600 fans after the game seeking tickets from the remaining pool. With just over 200 tickets available to sell and a queue of 600, the fairest thing we could do was to limit sales to 1 per person in strict order.

We sold the 221 tickets to the first 221 people in the queue. We then issued a numbered ticket voucher to everyone else in the queue, in order that any further tickets could be sold to fans in this order. Again, this was the fairest thing we could do, given that demand had exceeded availability. We thank fans in the queue for their patience and understanding.

We will now do two things:

  1. speak to Stoke City FC on Monday morning about the possibility of any increase in our allocation.

  1. release any further tickets we can, once we have reconciled all purchase (including all online sales) and taking account of any returns we have.

If either of these actions makes any further tickets available for sale, we will announce it via the Club/Trust websites, social media and a Members mailing.  We suggest you follow us on Twitter - @WSTtweets and @Wrexham_AFC - for the quickest news.

We are delighted that the sales for the Stoke game have been popular - and that more than half of sales were made online. We thank fans for responding to our call to help reduce the pressure on the Club Shop at such a busy time of year. This week's online purchases will be processed for collection/postage from Monday via the Club Shop.

Of course, we don't like it whenever any of our fans miss out on a chance to cheer on the Reds. We have been advising fans all week about the size of our allocation, and the phases in which tickets would be sold. We advised fans that this was a high demand game, and ticket sales were proceeding quickly and that we expected to sell all available tickets.

We have always been clear that there are benefits to co-ownership of the football club we all love - and priority access to tickets for popular games is one such benefit. We urged fans to become Club Members to gain access to Phase 1 sales, and many of you joined or rejoined.

This is our second sell-out event in a few weeks - showing just how important the Club is to its fans. There will be further high-demand games this season, including possible further Cup games (FA and FAT) and our derby game. We would urge all fans to become Club Members.

Thankyou for your support. Together we are building a stronger Wrexham Football Club.
