Happy New Year!

 Happy New Year!

A very happy new year to WST members and all Wrexham fans everywhere

2006 was certainly an historic year for Wrexham Football Club and whilst things may not be going so well on the pitch at the moment the fact that we are still here for 2007 is reason enough to rejoice and be optimistic that things will improve in that area to get us back playing at a higher level.

We know we have the players, management and stadium to play at a much better standard so lets hope we can put everything right and make 2007 a season to remember by our exploits on the pitch!

As an organisation our members have much to be proud of from 2006. Not least of course our part in raising awareness of the problems at Wrexham FC and our objections to the plans of previous owners. But also, the rebirth of the Junior Dragons, the highly successful yearbook (1000 copies sold!), breaking through the 1000 members barrier, the massive fundraising effort in general and our continued assistance to the club in many areas.

The club is saved and we are returning to being a normal football club once more, off the pitch and behind the scenes things seem to be improving with much more income being generated in the commercial areas.

So what now for the Supporters Trust? - Last year we set ourselves a target to raise 250k to invest in equity in the club, and we are pleased to say that we are now very close to reaching that target. So close in fact that we have extended the target to now raise 300k by the end of the season. This is all money donated by members or raised by the various events and activities we organise and which will be invested in the club as soon as the opportunity to buy shares is available.

It is vital that we continue the momentum that our activities have generated, and as this is the time of year when many members will be asked to renew their subscriptions we hope that you will all rejoin and show your support for the Trust and for the principle of fans representation at the club.

On Saturday we will be playing at Derby County in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The Trust are running buses to the match (including a parent/child bus) and a few places are still available - contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or ring the Trust mobile at the end of this column to enquire about availability. Lets hope for a good result there as it always lifts our spirits when we get a good cup run going! And of course whenever we reach the 4th round of the FA Cup it brings back memories of that famous victory over Arsenal in 1992. To celebrate this the WST are holding a 15th Anniversary reunion and have invited the players that took part in that game to a special event to be held at the New Changing Rooms on Sunday 7th January starting at 1pm. Tickets at just £10 for WST members or £12 general sale! Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to reserve yours! Already confirmed are Steve Watkin, Waynne Phillips, Karl Connolly, Joey Jones and Brian Carey so it promises to be a great trip down memory lane.

Following this our next scheduled event is our members meeting on the 22nd January when we will be giving updates on all aspects of Trust activity. Guests to be confirmed shortly.

So our message to all Wrexham fans for the coming year is to keep supporting the team, join the Trust if you are not already a member and be a part of the future of Wrexham FC.
