WST to outline why its co-operative model is the best way forward for football club ownership

wstsmallestWrexham Supporters Trust has been invited to speak at the prestigious Co-operative Cymru/Wales Conference in Cardiff on Friday, July 6th.

The conference - Co-operative Enterprise: Building a Better Wales - is focused on how co-operatives can deliver wealth creation and revitalise communities in Wales. Wrexham Supporters Trust has been invited to share its experience of acquiring Wrexham Football Club and how its co-operative model is starting to rebuild the Club on and off the pitch.

The Conference is being held in association with the Institute of Welsh Affairs (IWA) and will be a special two day event to celebrate the United Nations 2012 International Year of Co-operatives. The event will highlight best practice in the co-operative sector from organisations as diverse as the Co-operative Bank, Oxfam Cymru, Welsh Water and the University of Glamorgan.

Richard Owen will be speaking at the Conference in what will sadly be his last official capacity as a WST Director for the time being. Richard has reluctantly decided to stand down from the Trust Board due to growing work and family commitments, but hopes to become one of the growing number of Red Army volunteers helping to rebuild Wrexham Football Club.

The Board of Wrexham Supporters' Trust would like to thank Richard for his hard work and commitment over the last four years and wishes him all the best with his work and young family. The Board would like to take the opportunity to inform members that there are now three places available for election. The closing date for nominations is Friday, July 6th.
