WST Statementin response tocomments made at Members Meeting on 22/01/07.Wrexham Supporters Trust would like to thank the Directors, Chief Executive and management team of Wrexham FC for attending the members meeting at the Centenary club on Monday evening. We hope the event was enlightening for those that attended. The Trust would like to reaffirm its full support for Brian and his players as they seek to maintain our league status.
We would like to clarify some points made during the evening.
1) Mr. Dickens asserted that the Trust has previously received a proposal from the club to invest our funds in return for equity. No such proposal has been received.
2) We disagree with the Club Chairman's claim that he has never made an offer of board level representation to the Trust. We respectfully remind Mr. Dickens that such an offer has been made to various members of the Trust board.
3) We are concerned about comments made by Mr. Dickens regarding a possible major single investor. Given the club's recent history, we are totally opposed to the future ownership and control of the club being vested in any single individual. We wish to see ownership spread across individual supporters, supporters' organisations and local businesses to secure the club for the long term.
For the benefit of Wrexham FC, it is essential that the Trust and the Club work together in a spirit of trust and mutual respect. We have always supported and assisted the current board in good faith and expect this to be reciprocated. We will therefore be seeking an early meeting with the Board to discuss these points.
Finally, the Trust would like to reiterate that we are seeking to invest in Wrexham Football Club and to obtain representation for Wrexham Supporters in the boardroom and will continue to pursue these aims.
