A very generous bequest from a lifelong supporter .
Wrexham Supporters' Trust are pleased to acknowledge a gift of £34,600 in the Will of Mr Gwynne Hughes of 7, Weston Drive, Stansty, Wrexham.
Mr. Hughes was a lifelong supporter of Wrexham F.C. since the war time days when Wrexham regularly fielded a star-studded team of guest internationals stationed locally.
Mr Hughes interest in the club was further nurtured when he became a reporter for the Wrexham Leader and wrote regular match reports under the non-de-plume 'Spartan'. He continued his interest after leaving the Wrexham Leader for the Chester Chronicle and was attending matches until a just a few weeks before his death.
|His brother Hywel (pictured here with Robbie Savage) who survives him, was Assistant Trainer to Jack Jones at the club during the 1950's when Peter Jackson was manager. Mr Hughes donation was intended for the fund to regain control of the club and will now go into the Target 300 fund to buy equity in the club on behalf of its supporters.|
Wrexham Supporters Trust would like to posthumously thank Mr Hughes for his generous legacy, and to extend this gratitude to his family, friends and executors of the will..
