We would like thank supporters for their amazing support this season which has seen our average attendance rise to over 4,500 supporters per game. Whilst it is looking highly unlikely that our promotion ambitions will be met, this has still been a year of progression and we firmly believe we are heading in the right direction.
The most important area of progression is of course that we are regaining control of the Racecourse Ground’ and all that will bring for your club going forwards. Whilst we are all extremely disappointed following the defeat at Nethermoor Park yesterday we have a responsibility on your behalf to look forwards and ensure our planning for the next 12 months enables us to get to where we all want to be.
A significant part of that planning is generating ‘breathing space’ by closing the £200k gap introduced by the Racecourse ground and ensuring that it does not harm our quest for success. As shared at the SGM part of that strategy is to encourage fans to support our My Racecourse game V Braintree Town 23rd April 2016. This is possibly the worst point in time that we could be making this plea when everyone will be frustrated and disappointed about events on the pitch, however as a club owned by you the supporters our main source of income remains your loyalty and support of attendance at games.
We are asking, and it is a big ask, that you put aside your disappointment for a week on Saturday and help us get our My Racecourse campaign off to a great start. Any income above our budgeted figure for this game will count towards our £200k target.
What will be taking place at the My Racecourse game?
The occasion will include:
• Mickey Thomas recreating the goal versus Arsenal on the pitch at half time
• Parade of former Racecourse legends
• Music from the different Racecourse eras
• Wrex the Dragon & Rockin Robin
• Special souvenir programme
We are encouraging fans to recreate the chant of ‘we shall not be moved’ to celebrate that the Racecourse is back under our control.
How can you help?
• Bring family, friends and colleagues to the match to cheer on the team in the last home game of the regular season
• Bring your flags from the #FlagDay event earlier in the season
• Use #MyRacecourse on social media
• Plan for this to be the game you travel to, if you live away from the area
The easiest way to reserve your seat is to save money by purchasing your ticket in advance online from the comfort of your own home via www.wafcshop2.wst.org.uk/match-travel-tickets.html.
Again thank you for your amazing support.
