Mark MACDOUGALL – Candidate Statement
My name is Mark Macdougall but I am known as Dougie at the club. I wish to stand for one of the seven places on the Wrexham Supporters Trust board.
I have seen the Wrexham Supporters Trust have made some fantastic advances in the past few year and I would like to contribute to the continuation of that progress. I am, as the WST are only interested in one thing and that is bringing the club back to where it should be! and that is in the football league and further, with the right people behind it!
I am 50 years old, married, with two daughters who are 19 and 17 and a step son of 32, my wife works as a teaching assistant at a local primary school. We have lived in Wrexham all our live. I play pool for the Turf and have also played for Wales and managed the under 21’s pool team.
My background involves working in sales selling double glazing for several high-profile companies, which I have done for over 30yers. I now have my own business, which is A1 Plastics, Windows and Doors Ltd, which is a home improvements company. If I get elected onto the board I would bring a vast knowledge of sales and how to negotiate with people. Without at all wanting to hold myself out as a know-it -all, I would hope that this experience could bring some use to Wrexham Supporters trust.
I have been able to sponsor the football club in several ways, this year I have sponsored the dug out, I have also had advertising boards pitch side for many years and have sponsored a number games over the years. I have strength in sales and marketing and have several ideas to bring revenue to the club and help take the club forward.
I have been a Wrexham fan for 45 years home and away. Many of my family are also loyal fans, several my nephews are playing or have played for Wrexham school boys. My wife’s Grandfather helped build the steps in Wrexham early days! I even registered my daughter as the youngest junior red in 1997 much to my wife dismay. So, as you can see the club is very close not just to my heart but also my family. But more than anything as a Wrexham FC supporter I am passionate in my desire to help achieve the best possible for our town club. On this basis, I submit my candidacy for the role as Trust board.
