FREEFREE (Football Research in an Enlarged Europe) is a large international research project funded by the European Commission, and our part of the project is to investigate the role of supporters in football governance.

The project website is www.free-project.eu. I am hoping that some members of the Wrexham Supporters Trust might want to get involved. We are looking for supporters to participate in the project over a period of 6-8 weeks from this March, particularly those who are 'very active' in football governance. We are therefore trying to involve members of Supporters Trusts in particular to represent this 'very active' group of supporters (we already have a number of season-ticket holders and 'less active' fans wanting to take part). Supporters Direct are partners in the project and working very closely with us on this œ we hope our findings will be useful to them and other supporter organisations (FSF and FSE are also involved, and we hope to disseminate our findings as widely as possible).

We are hoping to get an insight into what channels are available (and the potential impact of these) for fans to voice their opinions/concerns about football governance and trusts seem an ideal place to look at this in detail. As a trust who has completed a takeover deal of their club it would be great to have you represented. I also notice from your website that you have a Disabled Supporters Association. We are looking to include a number of disabled fans in our sample to hear their experiences.
If you can help in any way to contact any disabled supporters who might want to get involved, again please get in touch. More information for supporters and our 'call for participants' can be found at the following link: http://tinyurl.com/freecallforparticipants. For more information or if you have any questions, I can be emailed at this address, or we have a project email address This email address is being protected from spambots.
