€˜Building the Wrexham Brand€™ Update

At the last Wrexham FC AGM, the club board introduced Andy Slinger, a season-ticket holder and brand consultant who has been working with the club (free of charge) to help define and deliver the Wrexham FC brand, with the aim of making the club more attractive to fans, businesses and the people of North Wales. As part of this project Andy spoke to a large number of fans to understand your thoughts and opinions regarding the future of Wrexham Football Club.

Over the course of February and March, Andy conducted a series of market research focus groups on matchdays with specific groups of fans and individuals. This part of the research is now complete, however, everyone will have a chance to contribute later, when we look at options for the future vision. Andy has now scheduled a meeting with the Club Board in May to outline his findings and suggestions for successfully driving the Club brand forward, which will also be shared with the WST membership at a later date.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far, and to everyone who will contribute in future. Everyone€™s input is important to the future of Our Club.

Membership Management Update

As some Members (new and existing) may have noticed, we have been a little slower than normal in responses to membership queries, applications, renewals etc. over the past few weeks. Apart from the obvious pressures of organising the Wembley logistics, the large number of games in a short period, and other Club and Trust activities, such as last Sunday€™s very successful Player of the Season dinner at Lion Quays, we have also been reviewing how we manage all the necessary functions to provide services both to existing and prospective WST members /WFC Club Owners.

We have recognised that the systems we use were set up a good few years back, when the Membership was numbered in hundreds, rather than the thousands we have today, and no longer reflects the professionalism that exists across both the WST and Wrexham FC. To ensure that we have the correct infrastructure to support and promote this membership growth we have reorganised the membership support group structure, to include a new post of Membership Development Director, as well as taking on board volunteers to manage our data input. We will also be centralising our membership management activities at the Football Club offices. This will ensure that each and every query or application has one place of delivery, and will get the attention it merits and deserves. The WST membership is the lifeblood of the Club and should be given that recognition.

Also, we are developing a new WST website following feedback from members. The new design will be much simpler to navigate, and will include a vastly improved way of joining the Trust if you are not a Member, and if a Member, making updating, renewing and changing details of your account much simpler. At present this website is scheduled for completion and release in July

As always, if you have ANY membership queries, please use this email address and we€™ll get right back to you: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Thank you for your continued support!

 WST Membership Details Update

In order to ensure we can contact you with all the relevant information we need to supply to you, we need you to help us. Many people, since joining the WST, may have moved home, changed email addresses, changed telephone contact details etc. To help us keep track please visit the WST website which allows you to ensure the details we have are up to date.

Simply go to the 'WST Membership Details Update' menu item on the 'Members' page and follow the instructions. Don't miss out on the news!

Club President Steps Down

Arfon Griffiths (who of course served the Club with distinction as a player and manager) has recently confirmed his intention to relinquish his position as President of Wrexham Football Club. Both the Supporters€™ Trust and Football Club Boards would like to express their thanks to Arfon for his contribution during his term of office and wish him well for the future.

 Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon 2012!

We will soon be looking for volunteers to commence on the third annual Red Army Walk up Snowdon.

In July 2011 almost 200 fans successfully completed the walk up Snowdon in horrendous conditions, but members of Wrexham Supporters Trust amazingly raised over £25,000!

Last year about 80 fans made the trek once again, but this time in glorious sunshine, and were rewarded with some stunning scenery. Those amazing fans helped raise just over £5,000 towards club funds.

For the third year in succession we are again looking for fans of Wrexham Football Club to embark on a sponsored walk to the top of Wales€”Snowdon€”to raise funds FOR Wrexham Supporters Trust to help towards the running costs of our fans owned football club€¦€¦. Wrexham FC!

The Red Army Walk is this year to take place on Sunday 30th June 2013. For those with sponsors of over £100 we will arrange for free coach travel leaving the Turf Hotel at 8am on that day. Anyone wishing to make there own way to the Pen-Y-Pass car park, from where we will start our ascend up the Miners Track route, we are looking to commence the walk at 10am.

To register for the Red Army walk please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or write to €˜WST Freepost€™ for sponsor forms. We will return them to you with your registration number.

We would prefer all walkers with Wrexham FC at heart to wear a Wrexham FC shirt or a red top so that it will make a great picture at the top of Wales!

We are hopeful this time that we can persuade Billy Barr and maybe one or two players to make the walk with fans of the club.

Wrexham FC Is For Life€¦€¦.Not Just Wembley

Own your own Football club. Play at Wembley. Clip on You Tube! A Dream?  No it happened To Don Jones for only a £1 a month.

Don, a 64-year-old lifelong Wrexham fan who lives in Hampshire, originally from Pen-Y-Ffordd, entered our recent Penalty Shoot out at Wembley Competition.

Don was successful and after not kicking a football for over 30 years decided to practice on the day before his appearance. Unsurprisingly Don pulled a muscle after three practice attempts, but undeterred he limped his way to Wembley.

Deciding to use his vast experience he fooled the Grimsby €˜keeper by using his eyes. He sent him the wrong way by coolly slotting his Penalty into the opposite corner. All this was done in front of his Son, Grandchildren and extended Family. Well done Don whose clip is on €˜You Tube€™ under €˜The Don at Wembley Wrexham€™.

Why not encourage friends and relatives to join the Trust. This could have been you or them for a minimum of just £1 a month! Other Other opportunities will come along in the future!Remember, it€™s Our Club and Our Future. Wrexham Is For Life as €˜The Don€™ found out!

Message From Cardiff City Supporters Trust Chairman

'May I wish you and all the members of the Wrexham Trust all the best for the play off with Kidderminster. You have had a remarkable season and must be congratulated on all the work you have done off the pitch. You guys are a credit to the Trust movement.

Things are looking up for Welsh football!

Best wishes

Tim Hartley (CCST Chairman)'

 Player Of The Season Dinner

The Wrexham FC Player of the Season Dinner was held on Sunday 21st April at the Lion Quays nr Oswestry. An enjoyable afternoon was had by all, with not only Andy Morrell, his management team, and the whole first team squad in attendance, but also the successful North West Youth Alliance League championship winning team from the club€™s 16-18 year olds.

The Supporters€™ Trust Player of the Season attracted plenty of interest from members, and the deserved winner was Chris Westwood, whose consistency this season has been second to none.

The Leader€™s €˜Dave Lovett Unsung Hero€™ Award

The winner of this year€™s €˜Dave Lovett Unsung Hero€™ award, chosen by the Trust Board themselves was Mike Dean. Mike has freely given up many hours of his time for his love for the club to €™muck in€™ at the club shop; in the club office; as well as taking on the role of €˜Wrex The Dragon€™ at many club events throughout the year including the Christmas Party.

Mike is very much part of a volunteering group who everyone involved should be immensely proud of being part of. Every one of the volunteers group should take great pride in playing however much of a part that they do, as it all makes for an extremely proud team of volunteers who have raised many thousands of pounds for Wrexham Football Club and helped make OUR Club one that fans can feel part of; and one which is without doubt community orientated.

Thank you to ALL volunteers who have played such an important role in making us a truly fans owned club we can all be proud of.

Disability Football Coaches

Following the Racecourse Community Foundation€™s successful grant application to introduce disabled football sessions here in North Wales, the WST have now recruited 19 volunteers who are interested in becoming fully qualified Disability Football Coaches. A briefing session took place for these volunteers on 23rd April outlining to them the potential of Disabled Football throughout Wales and the various training courses that they will be put through. However, there is still time for others to volunteer should anyone be interested. Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. Whilst undergoing training, volunteers will be encouraged to assist the current batch of RCF coaches in running various Deaf and 16+ Disabled football sessions until they are fully qualified and able to run their own sessions.

Memories FC

The Community sub group of Wrexham Supporters Trust have worked tirelessly behind the scenes for the past three months setting up a partnership project with the Alzheimer Society in Wales that is anticipated will run for a year and hopefully longer.

The joint project is based upon a successful pilot scheme that was run in Glasgow called Memories FC. It will be aligned with the Alzheimer Society's existing befriending project but with a twist; because, those sufferers of dementia who enjoy football will now be able to participate in small groups reminiscing about past Wrexham FC glory days. The partnership has now been established where a group of Wrexham supporters, trained by the Alzheimer Society, will use Wrexham FC memorabilia to facilitate a befriending service for sufferers of mild dementia.

The role of Wrexham Supporters Trust will be to co-ordinate the collection and provision of Wrexham FC memorabilia throughout the project.

We are still seeking volunteer befrienders. So, if you are looking for a new way of sharing your passion of football with others, then why not get involved?Memories FC is a great way for you to share your passion for the game and help local football supporters living with dementia continue to be part of the footballing community. Why not volunteer to be involved with the small monthly groups held at the Glyndwr University Racecourse Stadium, and use Wrexham FC memorabilia to encourage football supporter chat about teams and matches of the past.

The project will run from the MRS hospitality boxes, and Glyndwr University will be conducting research to establish whether the project has any beneficial aspects to dementia sufferers.

For further information on the project and how to volunteer please contact Liz Wilks on 01352 700711 07703886129 or email:This email address is being protected from spambots. Community Shares Update

We have recently written to all Subscribers of WST's Loan Note Scheme to vote on whether to transfer their Loans to WST into Community Shares. From the replies received, the majority have voted in favour of this. Thank you to all those who voted, this result will help boost the Community Share fund further and push the total currently invested over the £140,000 mark. We will be contacting All Loan Note holders individually to advise how we proceed.

During the summer, the first project to use Community Share funds will be completed with the refit of the club shop and ticket offices. As part of this project, we are considering how we can acknowledge those members who have bought shares and contributed towards this and other future projects. If you have any ideas or suggestions or require any other information regarding Community Shares, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. Volunteers

Firstly, we would like to say a massive thank you to each and every person who helped out during the run up to the FA Trophy Final. There are too many people to mention, but you know who you are.

It has been a remarkable season for everyone concerned with Wrexham Football Club and Wrexham Supporters€™ Trust. The Volunteers Red Army have been outstanding and helped the Club achieve so much throughout the season. With this in mind Wrexham Supporters Trust are collecting any Foreign Coins/Notes that you do not need. We feel that this is a great way to raise money for the Trust, if you do have any that you can donate, please drop any unwanted Foreign coins/notes off at the Club or Trust shops. All currencies welcome.
